The simple bare necessities,
Forget about your worries and your strife,
I mean the bare necessities,
That's why a bear can rest at ease,
With just the bare necessities of life."
My life this past month has felt very similar to that question "If you were on a deserted island, what 3 items would you take with you?". Literally, everything we have needed the past month (including Christmas presents and all my husband's basic military gear) has been packed in 7 suitcases that have been lugged with us for a few thousand miles. Driving from Arizona to San Diego and on up the West Coast of California, Oregon and Washington then flying to Hawaii, back to California and now to Korea, these carefully chosen items have sustained us for weather ranging from 15 degrees Fahrenheit to 85 degrees Fahrenheit. Talk about not knowing what to pack!
From a Winter Wonderland one week to a day at the beach the next!
Before being tasked with this overwhelming job of deciding what we will need until our things arrive, I was listening to Toddler Tunes radio with my son. Wouldn't you know it, Bare Necessities started playing--the anthem to our life lately! I can't tell you the number of times this song has replayed in my head whenever I'm wishing we had this or that to pull out of our suitcase. I know we will be settled soon; we will have a bedroom, kitchen, living area and closet space! Essentially, we will have a house to live in once again. But, for now, the Bare Necessities will have to do!

Maggie,

Jenny,
ReplyDeleteHow nice to keep in touch after all these years! I forgot to post on your blog during Thanksgiving time--I 'stole' your idea of the napkin ring holders and they turned out brilliantly! I even put some ribbon around it and a scrapbook letter of each person's initial. Thanks for the idea; love things like that!
